The Edo State Governorship Election Petition Tribunal has declared Governor Monday Okpebholo of the All Progressives Congress as the rightful winner of the September 21 gubernatorial election in the state.
In a unanimous ruling, the three-member panel led by Justice Wilfred Kpochi dismissed the petition filed by the Peoples Democratic Party and its governorship candidate, Asuerime Ighodalo, for their failure to substantiate allegations of overvoting.
The tribunal criticized how the petitioners presented their evidence concerning the allegations raised before it. The tribunal affirmed that Okpebholo received the highest number of valid votes in the election.
