Catholic faithful across Nigeria are set to celebrate fourth edition of the Communications Week (ComWEEK) following the directive of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN),
The week-long celebration Themed, ‘Share with gentleness the hope that is in your hearts,’ is expected to be held in all parishes, Catholic institutions, and pastoral units across Nigeria.
Michael Nsikak Umoh, national director, Social Communications, stated that the 2025 ComWEEK, a media literacy programme initiated by the CBCN, is scheduled to start on Sunday, 25 May, and end on Sunday, June 1, 2025; which is the Sunday of the World Communication Day (WCD).

The ComWEEK is targeted towards media literacy for discipleship. It is an expansion of the one-day WCD, which was established in 1967 by Pope Paul VI.
According to him, a major highlight of the celebration will be the second edition of the ComWEEK public lecture, scheduled to be held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025. The primary audience of the lecture will be the media professionals, regulators and other stakeholders in the media industry.
The CBCN developed the one-week programme, conscious of the important and enormous challenges of media and communications to the Church and modern society, particularly in the present digital age.
Umoh stated that the manual to guide the activities and lessons for each day of the week will be made available through a website, comweeknigeria.com and the mobile app, nigeriacatholicnetwork.com.
