Marvel Studios officially announced 27 cast actors for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ on March 26, 2025, blending returning MCU icons with fresh faces from the upcoming new Fantastic Four film, and actors from the Fox X-Men films.
The event, which was streamed on Instagram Live for over five hours, featured a powerhouse of actors, setting the stage for what promises to be a monumental cinematic event in 2026.
The confirmed actors include Robert Downey Jr., who was initially announced to play the role of Doctor Doom on July 27, 2024, during Marvel Studios’ Hall H panel at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC).
This marked a shift from his previous MCU role as Tony Stark/Iron Man, which concluded with the character’s death in ‘Avengers: Endgame’ in 2019.
Chris Hemsworth comes back as the God of Thunder, Thor, Tom Hiddleston reprising his beloved role as Loki, Anthony Mackie continuing as Captain America, Sebastian Stan returning as Bucky Barnes, the Winter Soldier, Letitia Wright, stepping up as Shuri/Black Panther, Paul Rudd bringing back Ant-Man, and Vanessa Kirby debuting as Sue Storm of the Fantastic Four film.
Florence Pugh is expected to reprise her role as Yelena Belova, Patrick Stewart and Ian McKellen returning as Professor X and Magneto from the Fox X-Men franchise, and Channing Tatum, who entered the MCU as Gambit in the ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ film in 2024.

Additional confirmed names include Kelsey Grammer, Lewis Pullman, Danny Ramirez, Joseph Quinn, David Harbour, Winston Duke, Hannah John-Kamen, and Simu Liu returning as Shang Chi among others, rounding out a robust roster that spans multiple corners of the Marvel universe.
Marvel opted for an unconventional approach with the announcement, streaming the event live on Instagram in a format that featured a slow rollout of cast names, one by one, represented by chairs labeled with each actor’s name. While the extended duration drew some criticism from fans who found it “excruciatingly slow,” the strategy kept viewers hooked, with social media buzzing as each new name was revealed.
Who Else Might Fans Expect?
While the confirmed cast already boasts an impressive lineup, speculation is rife about additional characters who might join the fray.
Based on social media trends and previous MCU developments, fans are buzzing about the potential involvement of Tom Holland as Spider-Man, Benedict Cumberbatch as Doctor Strange, and Pedro Pascal, widely speculated to be part of the Fantastic Four cast, potentially crossing over into Doomsday.
Posts on X have also hinted at possible appearances from characters tied to Thunderbolts and Fantastic Four, suggesting that Avengers: Doomsday could serve as a nexus for Marvel’s expanding cinematic tapestry.
Why This Matters
The announcement of ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ marks a pivotal moment for the MCU as it gears up for its next blockbuster phase. With production now underway, the film is poised to unite heroes from the Avengers, X-Men, and Fantastic Four.
