The Minister of Interior, Dr Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, announced on Wednesday that the Federal Government will mark Eid-el-Fitr with public holidays on Monday, 31 March and Tuesday, 1 April 2025.
In a statement, Ministry Permanent Secretary Magdalene Ajani congratulated Muslims on completing the Ramadan fast. Tunji-Ojo emphasised the holy month’s role in developing self-discipline, compassion and spiritual renewal.
The minister called on Muslims to embody love, generosity and peace, and to support national unity and religious harmony. He urged Nigerians to use the festive period to pray for the country’s peace, stability and prosperity.

“As we celebrate Eid-el-Fitr, let us reflect on the lessons of Ramadan, embrace one another with love and forgiveness, and work together to build a more united and prosperous Nigeria,” Tunji-Ojo stated.
He encouraged citizens to celebrate safely, responsibly, and to extend kindness to the less privileged, in keeping with the values of Ramadan and Eid.
On behalf of the Federal Government, Tunji-Ojo wished all Muslim faithful a joyous Eid Mubarak and prayed that the season’s blessings would bring happiness and fulfilment to everyone.
