MTN, one of Nigeria’s leading mobile telecommunication outfits, on Sunday launched its Go make a difference (Go-M-A-D) campaign in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia State.
The Go M.A.D (Make A Difference) campaign according to MTN, is aimed at celebrating those, who are making impact in their communities, whether big or small.
Joseph Ogbuka, project manager, Go M-A-D campaign, who led MTN team at the Aba launch of the project, said that the initiative is aimed at inspiring young people to become positive change agents in their communities.
He noted that the campaign would encourage Nigerians, especially the young ones to engage in productive ventures that would not only improve their well-being, but also affect others around them positively.
“We decided to start this campaign to encourage Nigerians to go out and affect their worlds positively. For us, it is a case of Nigerians doing things differently in order to uplift not just themselves, but their communities and the entire country at large.
“We are in Aba, to showcase Aba as the city that is making a difference, as the city that aligns with our Go Make a Difference philosophy.

“This campaign seeks to inspire Nigerians to affect their communities positively, no matter their class. For instance, any day you become tasty on the road and you couldn’t find somebody hawking sachet water, then you’ll understand the importance of the pure water seller.
“We are saying that in whatever you are engaged in, whether you are a shoemaker, doctor or teacher, in whatever profession you find yourself, do it well”, he said.
“This campaign is a celebration of resilience. It’s MTN’s way of saying, “We see you, we support you, and we’re here to make your lives easier”.
“At MTN, we are committed to progress, empowering our customers to rise above obstacles and create something extraordinary”, he added.
Michael Chinedum Ogbonna, chief executive, MUA Couture, a clothing outfit based in Aba, the commercial hub of Abia state, said that using data had helped him to improve his business.
He said, “Internet has improved my business. Before the introduction of internet in Nigeria, getting feedbacks from clients took weeks and months, but right now, it takes minutes to get a feedback.”
Ogbonna, who is an ambassador of Go-M-A-D campaign, said that accessing the internet helps him to be in constant touch with his clients in Malaysia, Canada, and the United Kingdom.
“In whatever field you find yourself, there is always something the internet will do for you. We all can remember that offices closed during COVID, most people worked from home and it was made possible with the internet. You do your work at home and send it through the Internet and data makes it possible for others to see your work”, he said.
