Enugu State is undergoing significant economic transformation, with the government aiming to increase the state’s GDP to $30 billion. Hon Engr Paul Uwakwe stated, “The government is committed to creating a business-friendly environment by improving infrastructure, supporting industrial growth, and ensuring urban development aligns with global standards.” He added, “We are making strategic investments in roads, power supply, and modern city layouts to attract businesses and improve the quality of life for residents.”
Notable investments are being made in road networks, bridges, and transportation systems. According to Paul, “New city layouts such as Independent Layout Phase 2 and Trans Ekulu Annex will ease urban congestion and support Enugu’s expansion as a commercial hub.”
Enugu is positioning itself as an industrial hub, with 9th Mile emerging as a key centre for manufacturing, logistics, and commerce. “We are creating an enabling environment for businesses by providing incentives and ensuring that industrial zones have the necessary infrastructure to thrive,” Paul explained.
The demand for modern residential estates is increasing, driving property development in areas like Nike, Owo, and Trans Ekulu Annex. “As more professionals and businesses move to Enugu, the demand for high-quality housing is growing, making these locations prime real estate hotspots,” Paul noted.
Investments in hotels, resorts, and entertainment centres are enhancing Enugu’s appeal to both tourists and businesses. Paul highlighted the importance of these projects, stating, “Tourism and hospitality are essential to our economic growth, and we are working to develop world-class attractions and accommodations.”
As government-backed development progresses, land prices in these areas are expected to appreciate, offering significant returns to early investors. “This is the best time to invest in Enugu. With infrastructure development and urban planning in full swing, land value will continue to rise,” Paul emphasised.
