Boxing fans in Lagos are in for an electrifying night as Balmoral Group and its sports entertainment arm, GameRush, set to stage the maiden edition of ‘Friday Fight Night ’—a high-stake boxing event set to take centre stage at the Balmoral Convention Centre on February 28.
The action-packed night will feature Nigeria’s finest boxers battling for title belts, with the headline bout pitting Basit Adebayo against Segun Gbobaniyi for the National Lightweight Title.
Speaking at a press conference to announce the event, Ezekiel Adamu, CEO of Balmoral Group, promised fans an unforgettable boxing experience, not just for Nigeria but for the entire African continent.
“Friday Fight Night will be a monthly series showcasing the best of boxing across Africa, not just in Nigeria. We are creating the right platform for boxers to shine, both locally and globally,” Adamu stated.
“This edition will feature Nigerian fighters but expect fireworks. Expect the best of boxing and top-tier entertainment on fight night.”
According to the organisers, the thrilling ‘Friday Fight Night’ will feature six action-packed bouts, including a National Lightweight Title Fight between Basit Adebayo and Segun Gbobaniyi, in the National Cruiserweight Challenge, Kadima Stephen will battle Sunday Ajuwa, while Yusuf Adeniji and Babatunde Oni test their strength in the National Super Bantamweight Challenge.
Other fights include: the National Cruiserweight Challenge between Idowu Okusote vs. Muritador Monyasahu, Rilwan Lawal vs. Taofeek Ganiyu for the National Featherweight Challenge and Abiodun Adesoji Adeniyi vs Fatai Balogun for the National Cruiserweight Challenge.
President of the Nigerian Boxing Board of Control (NBBoC), Dr Rafiu Oladipo, assured fans that all necessary safety measures, including a medical team, will be in place to handle any emergencies.
With a thrilling lineup of fights, ‘Friday Fight Night’ promises to deliver top-class boxing and entertainment, solidifying its place as a must-watch event for fight fans in Nigeria and beyond.
