Over 80 international technology leaders from 21 countries are set to push Nigeria’s food-tech and packaging industry to a new height when they gather for the first agrofood and plastprintpack fair in Nigeria.
The exhibitors, expected from Africa, Europe and Asia, will offer participants new insights on how best to manage the food value chain process from the field to the final consumer.
In a statement released to BusinessDay, Michel Arrion, head of delegation and ambassador of the European Union to Nigeria, says European suppliers can assist the Nigerian agrofood industry with machinery, equipment and technological know-how meeting a high degree of food safety and compliance with international hygienic standards.
“For this reason, the European Union supports this important event and wishes that during the years to come it will develop into a leading platform for technological exchange in the areas of agrofood, food processing and packaging,” Arrion says.
Mike Adekola, president, Institute of Packaging Nigeria, says “the presence of the Institute of Packaging Nigeria at agrofood and plastprintpack Nigeria 2015 is ideal for visitors who need a global understanding of the food value chain in Nigeria, from the field to the final consumer including farmers, suppliers, transporters, processors, etc.”
The event, which has Heidelberg Nigeria as its platinum sponsor, is also supported by the European Union, the Institute of Packaging Nigeria, the foreign trade chambers of Austria, France and Germany.
The German organiser, Fair-trade Messe says it expects more than 1,500 professional trade visitors at the exhibition, adding that the entry for professionals is free and pre-registration can already be done at the event’s websites.
Scheduled for April 28 – 30, at the Landmark Centre in Lagos, the event is organised by one of the leading organisers of professional international trade shows, Fairtrade Messe from Germany, in close cooperation with AHK Nigeria – the delegation of German industries and commerce in Nigeria.
The organiser, Fairtrade was founded in 1991. The brand ranks among the leading organisers of professional international trade fairs in emerging markets, especially in North and sub-Saharan Africa, Eastern Europe and the Middle East.
