Onyebuchi Chukwu, the minister of health, said on Monday that SERVICOM units were established in federal institutions to promote quality and prompt service delivery in the country.
Inaugurating the SERVICOM committee at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital, Nnewi in Anambra, Chukwu said the policy was in line with the service delivery initiative of President Goodluck Jonathan’s transformation agenda.
The minister, who was represented by Ahmed Madu, the national officer of SERVICOM in the Federal Ministry of Health, said the broad objective of the SERVICOM unit in the ministry was to ensure that healthcare services in government hospitals and their annexes improved.
The minister lauded the management of the hospital for its various achievements.
“Today’s exercise is a clear demonstration of the focus of the new leadership and all staff members should key into the initiative for quick results and for sustainability.
“An important millstone has been achieved at NAUTH, where some measures are being taken to address numerous challenges that have hitherto thwarted the effective and efficient delivery of top-class healthcare services to our people.”
