Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the Director General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), said it isn’t true, a statement claiming that she is being attacked for visiting President Bola Tinubu.
Okonjo-Iweala, responding to the allegation on her Twitter handle on Wednesday, described the statement as “wickedly false, designed to create mischief among Nigerians.”
The former Nigeria’s Minister of Finance urged Nigerians to disregard this statement.
“It has just been brought to my attention that there is a false statement circulating on WhatsApp attributed to me saying that I am being attacked for my visit to President Tinubu.
“That statement circulating is false, Infact wickedly false designed to create mischief among Nigerians. Please disregard the statement,” Okonjo-Iweala wrote.

Earlier on Tuesday, the WTO DG met with President Tinubu at the Aso Villa in Abuja.
After her discussion with the President, Okonjo-Iweala talked to reporters at the Presidential Villa. She mentioned that they talked about making jobs for young people and helping women and children who are facing the most difficulties in the country.
This meeting happened two months after both leaders saw each other in France at the Global Pact Summit in Paris, where President Emmanuel Macron was the host.
Before this, Okonjo-Iweala was Nigeria’s Finance Minister two times, from 2003 to 2006 and then from 2011 to 2015. She was the first woman to have this job. She also worked at the World Bank for 25 years and got to the second-highest position, Managing Director.
