Deborah David is a multiple award-winning chartered accountant, and a strategic c-suite leader in finance, strategy, and corporate governance for over twenty-three years. She is the current Chief Financial Officer of African Circle Pollution Management Limited (ACPML), a company licensed to operate port reception facilities in all the six Nigerian seaports on behalf of the Nigerian Port Authority, in order to help vessels comply with international IMO convention.
She is a verified mentor and a remote Practical Experience Supervisor (RPES) at ACCA. She has been awarded: Top 100 Emerging Women in Africa, Top 50 Women In Management in Africa, Top 50 Inspiring Authors, among others.
Deborah sits on the board of 2 NFPs and is also a certified social and emotional intelligence coach. As the President and Founder of The Goal-getters Network (a coaching platform designed to support, inspire and empower c-level executives on work-life integration through self-awareness and goal-setting techniques), she has so far impacted more than 140 members as at 2022. She has featured on local newspapers and radio, local and international TV platforms. She is an author of three books.
Over the years, she has surpassed expectations in helping companies scale and produce sustainable results deploying her multi-sectoral skills and expertise in treasury management, financial analysis, forecasting, internal controls, corporate finance, financial accounting, and risk management to support boardroom decision making processes.
Her stint in KPMG and other global companies trading in various sectors like Maritime, FMCG, oil & gas, pharmaceuticals, construction, consulting, and telecommunications (to mention a few) have proven her agility, resilience, and ability to work warmly with people of multi-cultural orientation.
Deborah possesses business acumen and is creative in internal, external, private and public sector stakeholder’s management. She is good at simplifying complex financial issues and providing digestible insights on critical business matters. Her role has taken her to nine African countries, 3 countries in Europe and 3 states in America, building strategic networks, sharing insights and making presentations at conferences.
She is a member of the Maxwell Leadership Certified Team, and the Toastmasters club. She is a good facilitator, a trainer, an author, a public speaker and a thought-leader who generously provide simplicity to career and workplace issues.
As CFO, she drives processes involving financial analysis, forecasting, internal controls, corporate finance, financial accounting, and risk management for a business with an annual turnover in tens of millions USD.
Key highlights during her tenure include leading implementation of SAP ERP in record time and successfully managed IFRS conversion within budget, reduced 75% of bank charges to zero transaction charges and below industry average loan and credit pricing, a milestone for the maritime industry. Also, she defended and reduced the tax liability of the company by 83%.
