Tokunbo Wahab Campaign Organisation has refuted the rumours that Barrister Tokunbo Wahab, a barrister, and one of the gubernatorial aspirants in Lagos on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APV), has rescinded his aspiration in favour of another aspirant.
A statement signed by Lekan Lawal, head, publicity of the organisation, a copy of which was made available to BusinessDay, said that there is no iota of truth whatsoever in the insinuation.
According to Lawal, “This is to state categorically that Barrister Tokunbo Wahab has not stepped down and has never contemplated rescinding his decision as a gubernatorial aspirant under the aegis of APC.
Ideally, we would have ignored this cheap rumour as we consider it a desperate action of desperate people, however, the deluge of telephone calls and SMS messages have necessitated the need for us to respond and assure our teeming supporters and the press that our aspirant will not jettison the call to serve.”
The organisation’s publicity secretary further stated that it is curiously coincidental that a national newspaper also carried “an untrue and seemingly misleading story about some aspirants holding a panic meeting.”
“Incidentally, an online i-report had earlier reported that such a story will be planted. If you read this story, it accurately predicted the news carried on the national newspaper on the same issue,” the statement added.

Reassuring supporters of the gubernatorial aspirant that he is still in the race, the statement clarified that for the “avoidance of doubt, Barrister Tokunbo Wahab is still very much in the race for the gubernatorial ticket under APC.”
The statement further emphasized that Wahab, who is from Ketu in Epe Local Government Area of Lagos State, is going into office, if elected, with a purpose.
“Barrister Wahab is 42, the youngest in the race. He is bringing a breath of fresh air. He is bringing his competence, character and everything into the project. Moreover, he has got the energy, not just youthfulness, the energy to stand the rigors of the challenges of the 21st Century Lagos.”
