Inside Davies Hotel Ibadan

If Ibadan is underrated or underestimated by many who do not see the need to visit the ancient southern Yoruba City, then, imagine the inaccurate abstract supposition many too, who have held about Davies Hotel in Bodija, Ibadan, would have held like a child who is being told how an airplane look like! Such a child can never fully understand how an airplane looks until he has seen one; and thus, we begin the story of Davies Hotel, located at 7/8 Adeyi Avenue, Old Bodija, Ibadan, as Hang Out With BDS temporarily ‘relocate’ to the Oyo State capital!

The glorious story of Davies Hotel can be seen in both its outside and inside. The sighting of the hotel from few yards during the day as one approaches, is beautiful to behold and charmingly inducing at night. Bodija itself, the hamlet where Davies Hotel is situated is a mountain-valley surroundings; and the descending and ascending walking experience round the hotel and the slowly moving stream passing through the back just by its fence are exclusive privileges Davies would continue to enjoy.

The cleanliness of its surroundings is second to none; even customer in his or her right frame of mind would resist the temptation to throw dirt no matter how tiny on its outside environment due to its tidiness and compactness. Only the insane and disorderly would shut the conscience against such a loud and obvious appeal from the grand not to be littered!

From the amiable reception hall of Davies Hotel-where courteous and uniformed attendants are on hand to welcome customers with a delightful smile, to the floors corridors leading to different sections of the hotel, and to the rooms itself, it is simplicity at the very best! It is luxuriously simple. The peaceful nature of Davies Hotel would definitely revive a tired body and a weary soul. Even the spirit of man itself is not exempted from revival and refreshment once stepped into Davies’ arena because the environment is also meditatively healthy. A ‘dead’ brain must surely rise again once in Davies Hotel!

The various rooms are all satisfactory by industry’s standard but again, just as the glory of the world differs from the glory of Heaven, the splendour and the prices of Davies Hotel’s apartments also expectedly differ. The luxurious section is for the big guys/ladies who are ready to pay extra to dwell in an extremely pampering vista. It is a place of utter and maximum placate that the pulse will not protest about because it worth its generosity!

Another memorial adornment on the crown of Davies Hotel is the pictorial monuments of great places and heroes of the past who have contributed immensely to the developments of Ibadan in particular, Nigeria and the world in general; strategically positioned round the whole hotel’s walkways. It is ‘ancientic’ and yet, imaginarily appealing and nostalgically overwhelming! Anyone with artistic penchant would fall in love with these monuments at first sight! They are everywhere at the hotel!

The fear of power failure is also alien to Davies Hotel’s customers. It is a 24-hour energy affair with standby generating sets; and its security arrangement is highly commendable with the usage of electronic card key in addition to the scrupulously focus security men at the main entrance of the hotel.
