The world of show business is populated by people cut from different moulds and different walks of life.
Despite their disparate background, a lot of entertainers adapted well to showbiz and flourished.
One of those who flourished is MC Chaz, a Nigerian-born US-based Chiaz Ogbu, a pharmacist-turned-master of ceremonies.
As emcee, Chaz (as he is popularly known), a native of Ubaha-Akpulu in Ideato North LGA, Imo State, Southeast Nigeria, is as good as they come.

Most times, it seems like fairy tales to hear that the versatile entertainer and MC’s background is in retail pharmacy and that he had hitherto worked for big pharmaceuticals such as Novartis and AstraZeneca, two of world’s top 20 pharmaceutical companies.
For those still doubting his credential, the 33-year-old recently cleared the air with a brief outline of his background. “I come from a family of four, the youngest of two boys and two girls. I grew up in Nigeria and studied Microbiology at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, but I moved to the United States some 13 years ago, where I obtained another degree from the University of Maryland and I worked in the pharmaceutical industry for nine years,” he outlined.
Continuing, MC Chaz, explain how his family had prepared him for life through education: “Ours is a very educated background. Our parents did not take education lightly; it was no joke in our home. You could choose to be a musician but my parents insisted you must be educated first.”
He further added: “Childhood was fantastic for me. I wasn’t the child that had all the toys in the world. My mom didn’t believe in them. My father got me bikes and toys, but we had to study as that gave better satisfaction to our parents.”
MC Chaz had no misgiving quitting his job as a Senior Reimbursement Counsellor to become a Master of Ceremony. As an entertainer, he had travelled around the world to place far. “As an entertainer, I have travelled to all the corners of the world including Germany, Britain, Italy, Australia, China, Canada and also 29 states in the United States.”
