Kenneth Gbagi, the governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in Delta State, says his party will win the 2023 general elections not based on political structure but on the masses’ votes.
He believed all those who have the well-being of the country at heart would vote for the SDP in the upcoming elections. Market women, youth, pensioners, businessmen and women, church-goers and anyone that want a better Nigeria would vote for the party to win, he added.
It is an election where you are supposed to pick somebody that you believe can guarantee the future of your children, future of your state and future of your children yet unborn, he said.
Gbagi, who spoke on Saturday, during a media chat with journalists at Ughelli, his country home, urged Deltans and Nigerians not to sell their ‘birthright for a package of maggi’ to avoid complaining of bad leadership after May 29, 2023.
“The issue of structure has nothing to do with this election. You don’t have to have a structure to win election,” he maintained.
While calling on the people of Delta State to vote for him as governor, for more industrialisation and the overall development of the state, Gbagi took a swipe at his critics who condemn him for not being serious each time he comes out to contest for an elective position.

The industrialist and former minister of state for education, said: “This is the first time in my life that I am going to contest an election on the platform of another political party. This is the first time I’m going to be on the ballot and we will win this election.”
The former People’s Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain said he left the party for SDP because he wanted God to decide his fate in the 2023 general elections.
“I am a competent man and Governor Okowa (of PDP, knows). That is why I want to prove my competence at the ballot in 2023”.
He recalled how he used Gbagi’s foundation to fight for Goodluck Jonathan to win and became the president of the country from South-South.
Gbagi, a foundation member of the PDP, said the party agreed that the north should do eight years, and thereafter power will return to the South. He, however, frowned at the party throwing open the presidential race for all regions which led to Atiku Abubakar clinching the ticket, saying it was against the principle of fairness and equity.
