How come the Japanese can produce a superb, well built closed and open top sports car such as this that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg?
The Mazda MX-5 Sports Graphite is the world’s best-selling two-seater sports car with good reason.
On a tarred when surfaced road devoid of bumps, ditches or craters, this multi-award winning MX-5 delivers the true roadster elements. This comes in the form of outstanding agility and driving dynamics with a proportionate optimal power-to-weight ratio and thrilling rear-wheel drive. And of course that power-folding hard-top roof that retracts in just 12 seconds.
This mould really typifies Mazada’s unconventional approach as this sports car is inspired by the Japanese notion of Jinba Ittai meaninh; ‘horse and rider as one’. And it’s this special bond between car and driver that makes the Mazda MX-5 feel so responsive, sprightly and fun to drive.
This winning combination of sporty design, low stance and sculpted rear end gives the Roadster, especially the Coupe that perfect blend of fun and aggression.
Only last year in he United Kingdom, the company revealed the new Mazda MX-5 Sport Graphite with just few models available and extra kit
It features extra equipment and a distinctive contrasting Meteor Grey folding hardtop. The latest in a long line of special editions for the evergreen roadster, Mazda only plans to sell 500 models, meaning exclusivity to owners.
Priced from £20,995 for the entry 125bhp 1.8-litre petrol model, it’s £1,000 more than the equivalent MX-5 in SE trim. However, if you opt for the £22,995 158bhp 2.0-litre model, there is an £800 saving against the MX-5 in Sport Tech Navigation option..
Both models of the limited edition Sport Graphite feature 17-inch dark grey alloys, black leather heated seats, a 5.8-inch TomTom Sat Nav with integrated Blutooth and interior and exterior limited edition badging.
With exclusivity as the selling point, the Sport Graphite is the eye-catching range of colours, which include Aquatic Blue Mica, Zeal Red Mica or Aluminium Silver Metallic, all of which come fitted with the contrasting Meteor Grey folding hardtop as standard.
Inside, the steering wheel is fitted with dark grey glossy spokes to match the dash and finished with unique grey stitching along with the handbrake and the seats. An alloy pedal set complete the makeover and MX-5 branded floor mats can also be fitted at an additional cost.
Performance remains the same with no mechanical changes, with the 1.8-litre model hitting 62mph in 9.9sec and going on to a top speed of 123mph, while the top spec 2.0-litre model will sprint to 62mph in 7.9sec and reach 136mph. Both cars return 39.8mpg and 36.2mpg respectively.
Globally, the Mazda MX-5 Sport Graphite is on sale now and potential buyers can also take advantage of the 0 per cent interest rate Mazda currently offer. At the time of this report, it could not be confirmed if this limited version is avalable for grabs in the Nigerian market.
