Wragby Business Solutions, indigenous technology integrator, says it is well positioned to support enterprise applications migrations in Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy by GDP. Gbenga Iluyemi, chief executive officer of the company, who made this declaration at a media briefing in Lagos, weekend, said United States (US) – based technology company, Microsoft has announced plans to cut-off extended support for Windows Server 2003 and Windows Server 2003R on July 14, 2015, as a part of its normal support lifecycle policies.
According to him, it has far reaching implications for various industry verticals in the country as there would be no updates for combating security issues, and loss of compliance.
Iluyemi explained that regulatory certifications for financial institutions that have attained Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard (PCI-DSS) becomes invalidated as the support on applications and programs comes to an end for organisations, data centres or server running this Operating System (OS) after this date. “Windows 2003 is one of the most successful platforms in the world. There are thousands of the businesses in the country running on this platform.
There are so many Automated Teller Machines (ATMs) sitting on this platform, business critical applications for oil and gas firms, public sector rely on this platform”, said Iluyemi.
According to him, Nigerian companies that fail to migrate to a new platform before the deadline would be exposing their mission critical data to cybercriminals.
“If a company misses the July 2015 deadline, the cost implications will be so huge. We are saying to businesses in West Africa that Wragby has the solution to successfully and efficiently migrate to Windows 2008 or Windows 2012”, said the Wragby CEO. The company is already ramping up competencies in the applications migrations.
