Even in faraway America where he relocated to, Olorunsogo Michael Oni, popularly known as Musicbysire, is living his dream as an all-round entertainer.
The Erin Oke, Osun State-born musician who turned 2015 recently on July 10, 2018, the firstborn of his parents’ three children, has continued to excel as a musician and a budding filmmaker. Musicbysire who left Nigeria after completing his four-year course at National Open University where he studied Political Science, is currently enjoying a booming career.
Explaining his reason for migrating to the United States, he said: “We have lots of talented youths out there, but bad governance in the country is jeopardising their future. Creative people with the brains are sidelines because of tribalism, nepotism and favouritism while people who are not competent are put in position. Sadly, this has gotten to the grassroots.”
Of his decision to forge a career in music, he said: “I got into music through my uncle Detola Adeniyi who is an amazing gospel artist. I grew up watching him singing and playing his songs and that inspired me to start singing and writing from a very young age. By the time I got to high school, I wrote my first song in JSS 1 and had a music group then called Trinity.”
For Musicbysire, the gospel genre is his calling. “I’m a gospel artist. I believe my talents are God-given so I’ve decided from my teenage years to just hold onto my faith and serve God with these talents,” he said.
He added: “I’m inspired most times by words from the Bible and sometimes when I sleep, I sing in my dream and wake up singing the songs I was singing in my sleep.”
On how he funds his music projects, he said: “I’ve been pushing my music all by myself from day one. I have a steady paying job and set aside funds to make music that I put out.”
Musicbysire who aside from being a musician, also produce, direct and act in movies” knows about the vicissitude of the entertainment industry.
“Capital to execute so major ideas and projects could be very challenging,” he averred, “but we start with what we got and push forward.”
He is optimistic of a bright future ahead. “Destiny can be delayed, but can never be denied,” he said philosophically.
