Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo, on Thursday, commended officers and men of the Federal Road Safety Corps for being one of the best agencies in road safety in Africa that delivered on it mandate to reduce road crashes in the region.
Osinbajo said this while inaugurating Corps (FRSC) Marshall Inspectorate Training School built by the Delta State government, in Owa-Alero, Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta.
The vice president emphasised that road safety is also one of the federal government’s agencies in the road safety ecosystem that has continued to deliver on its mandate in reducing road crashes through research and public education.
He said the institution is meant to develop human capacity and commended Delta State Government for a job well done, even as he advised other states to emulate the oil-rich State in rendering service to the people.
Ifeanyi Okowa, governor of Delta State while commending the vice president for continuously honouring his invitation explained that the training school was fully equipped, with a 500-seater auditorium, modern facilities, lecture hall, ICT, lodge for officers, hostels, Clinic, driving rang, and others.
He said that the state has a good relationship with the federal government and will continue to embark on projects that would benefit the nation.
“We built the structure in nine months and today we hand over to the federal government,” Okowa said.
The corps marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps, Boboye Oyeyemi commended the quick response of Okowa to build the training school when he was called upon.
He said that the school would be fully put to use and enhance the human capital development.
