Familylifers, a platform focused on the well-being of families, said it is leveraging technology to reach at least one million Nigerians before the end of 2020.
Bisi Adewale, the founder of the platform says the launch of the platform couldn’t have been at a more critical time given the devastation brought on many countries by the COVID-19 pandemic.
Across the world, people have battled with the impact of the pandemic. These include high crime rate, poverty, unemployment, high divorce rate, abandonment, violence in marriage, depression, kidnapping, banditry, child sexual abuse, suicides, and violence against women.
According to a report, violence affects over 640 million women worldwide. 80 percent of violence against women is within a marriage or an intimate relationship. A quarter of all women between the ages 15 to 24 have already experienced violence by their partners.

Adewale said the best approach is to address the problem from young people because when they learn the right things growing up they are able to do the same when they become adults and in relationships with other people. Besides, young people suffer in different ways either by watching a loved one subjected to violence or as victims themselves.

“We need to pay attention to our young people who are most hit by this menace,” he said.
Nigeria has one of the largest populations of young people in the world. The World Bank which tracks the percentage of each country’s population within 0-14 years, ranks Nigeria alongside Afghanistan and Uganda as the countries with the highest population of children in the world.
FamilyLifers not only addresses the many problems between partners, but it is also expected to create employment for many young people.
“We are here to launch a platform that will help young people learn new things and do great things. This platform will take them out of the street and make them use technology for positive things. That is why we are launching Familylifers.com today. History is unfolding before our eyes. New things are about to happen in our dear nation. This new online platform will,” Adewale said.
