Ekiti State Government has disbursed N6.770 Million as Empowerment Fund to ninety three survivors of Gender Based violence (GBV) across the state, as part of activities to mark this year sixteen days global campaign against Gender Based Violence.
The State Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Alhaja Maryam Ogunlade who was represented by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry, Eunice Oladimeji made this known during the cash disbursement to the beneficiaries in Ado Ekiti, She explained that the empowerment was done as part of activities to mark this year 16 days of activism globally against Gender Based Violence (GBV) in the State.
Ogunlade, Speaking at the venue, expatiated that the cash disbursement which ranges from one hundred thousand naira (N100, 000) to fifty thousand naira (N50, 000) per person would give succor to beneficiaries and make life more bearable.
She urged them to use the money judiciously and embark on businesses that would generate income for the upkeep of their children.

The Commissioner expressed appreciation to Erelu Bisi Fayemi for being so passionate and for giving priority attention to the well-being of women, adding that the State Government would continue to support women in the fight against Gender Based Violence in the State and always key into policies that would have direct impact on women across the state.
She appealed to women to be safety conscious at all times and avoid marital violence, saying that “she who fights and runs, lives to fight againâ€.
Ogunlade also advised them to be quick to report cases of Gender Based Violence to the State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development for prompt intervention.
One of the beneficiaries, Obabi Olakunle thanked the State Government, particularly Bisi Fayemi for rendering this great assistance and support at all times, praying God to continue to support her and her family in her drive to reposition women and make life more comfortable for them.
