Elizabeth Alonge is the current Executive Director of Child Health Advocacy Initiative, and the current United Nations Scaling Up Nutrition champion for Nigeria (SUN). She also spends her time as a consultant with USAID, and an advocate for Save the Children International.
Child Health Advocacy Initiative (CHAI) is an initiative of BASICS 11 United States Agency for International Development (USAID). The focus of CHAI is to promote healthy living and child survival in Nigeria. They work with the federal, state, and local governments, along with local and international organisations to tackle maternal and child health issues in Nigeria.
She is a Board Member of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), and a current member of the Lagos State Maternal & Child Mortality Reduction Committee. Over the years, she has authored two Nutrition books titled “Baby & Child Care” and “Breastfeeding Made Easy.” She is a notable nutrition expert in Nigeria, and an international child rights advocate.
Elizabeth Lola Alonge is the Founder of Mamajoy Breastfeeding Suite, a healthcare innovation that promotes healthy and safe breastfeeding practices for nursing mothers in Africa. She has over 35 years of experience in public relations, media and international development in Africa.

Alonge has studied at London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine, and holds a Master of International Law and Diplomacy from University of Lagos, and a Bachelor of Arts in English from Obafemi Awolowo University.
She was awarded the United Nations Global Nutrition Champion and Ambassador for Nigeria by UN Scaling Up Nutrition (SUN) network, a UN prize awarded to inspirational individuals who have had made an outstanding contribution towards the achievements in bringing people together for nutrition, achievement in nutrition policy impact, achievements in supporting nutrition results and achievements in increasing finance for nutrition.
She also received the MamaYe Heroine Award from OPTIONS UK for her exemplary work in Nigeria for her contributions towards the health and protection of women and children.
She was awarded the Professional Excellence award by the Lagos State government through the Domestic Sexual and Violence Response Team (DSVRT) for her fight against violence for Nigerian women and children.
She sits on a number of National and State technical working committees such as the Lagos State Safeguarding and Child Protection committee, Federal Ministry of Health World Breastfeeding Week committee, Lagos State Food and Nutrition committee, Nigeria Red Cross Health committee and United States Agency for International Development (USAID). She is also a Governing Board Member of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH) and NEPAD Business Group Nigeria (NBGN).
Elizabeth Alonge has also authored, two best-selling books, titled “Breastfeeding Made Easy” and “Baby and Child Care.”
