Abia State Police Command has vowed to double its efforts to ensure that the State is secured, despite the recent rise in violent crimes in Aba and other parts of the State, after the #ENDSARS protest.
Geoffrey Ogbonna, police public relations officer (PPRO) Abia State, made the promise, Wednesday in Aba, after spot assessment of police facilities destroyed during the #ENDSARS protest, by a special committee of the Inspector General of Police.
Ogbonna also assured that the Yuletide period will be peaceful, as the police are prepared to ensure a crime-free festive period.
“We will always come out with an operation order. We do it before, during and after the Yuletide. This year will not be an exception. We are out to ensure that people celebrate Christmas without hindrance”, he stated

Ogbonna, while reacting to reports of security lapses in the State, especially Aba, explained that it happened as a result of the #ENDSARS protest, but assured that police officers nationwide have come back to their duty posts.
“Perhaps the security lapses happened, because, when your life is threatened and the people you are working for are after you, you have to have a rethink.
“You will make sure you protect yourself, before protecting another person. You can only

On incessant cult activities in Aba, the PPRO urged members of the public to volunteer valuable information to the police, to ensure that the society is safe for all.
“Before the entire #EndSARS protest, there was a call for mopping up of arms. All the citizens, who were in possession of firearms were advised to handover whatever they have to security agencies.
“It behooves on members of the public to volunteer whatever information they have to the police, because all these people have where they come out from.
“Cultism is one area we are looking at. These cultists can’t operate without firearms. We have made arrests of some cultists. It may not be in Aba here, but we have made arrests.
