For the second day running armed thugs on Thursday broke into ranks of the #EndSARS protesters at Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos, wielding dangerous weapons.
The thugs by about 8:00am were seen moving around wildly with cutlasses and knives and chasing after the EndSARS protesters who scampered in different directions for safety.
One of the protesters who gave his name as Temitope lamented that the police failed to give them protection, which provides the leeway for the armed hoodlums to attack them.
The EndSARS protesters hit the streets as early as 7am, in Lagos, and walked the way to gather at Lagos State House of Assembly, with some of them spreading to the Alausa end of the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, where their activities disrupted vehicular movement on the expressway.
The EndSARS protests enter its 9 days in major cities across the country. Although some of the demands of the protesters have been met by the government, including the disbandment of SARS, the protesters are insisting officers who shot and killed protesters be fished out and brought to justice through prosecution.
One of the leading voices for the EndSARS protesters, Aisha Yusufu while speaking on “Your View”, a TVC morning programme on Thursday, said “some of the arrested protesters are still being held”.
She also demanded the immediate prosecution of the killer-SARS officers.
