LG Electronics (LG) was named Most Innovative Device Manufacturer of the Year by the GSMA at Mobile World Congress 2014 in Barcelona, Spain. The Global Mobile Award, sponsored by the GSMA Award Committee represented by mobile specialists and analysts, is by far the most prestigious and authoritative award in the mobile industry.
“We are incredibly humbled that GSMA selected LG from among the many capable companies in the mobile industry to honour with this award,” said Chris Yie, vice president of LG Mobile Marketing Communications. “Innovation has been the key to LG’s success. This recognition, in addition to last year’s Best Smartphone of MWC 2013 award, is clear proof that our hard work and effort is paying off.”
At this year’s MWC, LG introduced eight smartphone models, including the G Pro 2, G Flex, G2 mini, F Series and L Series III under the theme, “Knock and Discover Tomorrow.” LG’s 1,261m2 booth, divided into three zones – Knock and Create, Knock and Play, Knock and Connect – allow industry leaders to experience the differentiated features of the company’s newest mobile devices, which include the iconic and unique Knock CodeTM among other unique UX features.
Also commenting on this feature, JS Yoo, general manager, mobile communications, LG Electronics West Africa Operations, said: “powerful performance, innovative cross-tasking and brilliant designs are the hallmarks of our smartphones.
“The far-reaching research and innovations that is brought to bear in our designs is what endears many to our mobile devices. Our range of smartphones bring a lot of whimsy and eccentricity to user experience; As a result, users are able to seamlessly multitask across business and entertainment.”
Visitors to LG’s Booth at the MWC 2014 were immensely thrilled by the level of in-depth research and technology that characterised the impressive products on display. LG G2 completely surpasses imagination. It does away with the tradition of placing volume keys and power button on the sides of the phone and gives users one key that controls it all.
The LG G2 is also a beautiful piece of technology. The bezel is super slim; this allows LG G2 to sport a large 5.2 inch 1920 x 1080 IPS display, which gives us a 424 PPI density. With this users have all the fun of a large screen, without the bulk that makes handling the phone a clumsy affair. The display is also genuine Full HD, and that means crystal clarity when it comes to watching videos and images.
The processor is Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 2.26GHz and operates on Android Jelly 4.2 OS. Smartphone batteries are notorious for running out quickly, that is a valid concern. However, the LG G2 takes care of this with its unique step-designed 3000mAh Li-Po (Lithium Polymer) battery with increased capacity.
