The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and the Government of Kaduna State (Nigeria) have signed a Memorandum of Understading, MOU, on trade and investment opportunities for the mutual benefit of the two parties.
Specifically, the MOU was aimed at enhancing economic relations, through trade, industry and services in addition to boosting mechanisms for exports on the basis of mutual interests.
According to a statement made available to BusinessDay in Kaduna, the Kaduna State government was represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Trade and Investment, Muhammed Yusuf Lere, while the Confederation of Indian Industry, CII, was represented by MS Supriya Banerji.
The trade agreement which was signed in Indian is expected to last for five years, the statement added.
The Managing Director of Durhar Global Resources Limited, Yahaya Garba, who was part of the delegation, said further that the MOU would help to develop exchange of economic information between the two institutions.
He noted the terms involve to organize Trade Missions and to cooperate through the organization of conferences, symposia and other forms of Trade events for the promotion of Trade, Industry and Services of both countries.
He said there would be reciprocal visits of Businessmen and Professionals to both Indian and Nigeria and help visitors and Businessmen in both directions obtain the most appropriate business contracts.
Garba explained that the MOU would not only improve the economic status of Kaduna state, but boost employment opportunities for the younger generation as many ailing industries would be revived through the effort.
