The Lagos State government will this Saturday, February 29, 2020 close the Adegbola Level Crossing, at Ikeja, to traffic to allow for the ongoing modernisation of the Nigerian Railway (Lagos-Ibadan section) project.
The road closure, according to the Lagos State Ministry of Transportation, would be from 6:00pm to 6:00am the next day (Sunday, March 1, 2020.
The closure would enable the contractor handling the project to lay the rail tracks.
To reduce the burden on road users, the state government has provided alternative routes for the period the work would last.
Accordingly, motorists who want to access Adegbola Street or reach other areas from Adegbola, are advised to use works road, Oba Akinjobi way to Ikeja underbridge, Ashade underpass, airport underbridge, Ikeja Along and local government secretariat way to get to their desired destinations.
Road users are advised to comply with the traffic directions to minimise inconvenience in movement.
The ministry said the closure has been slated at this time, to ensure smooth and uninterrupted flow of work on the rail tracks.
“Lagos State government is hereby appealing to residents of the state, especially motorists that ply this corridor to bear with us, as the project is aimed at achieving a seamless multi modal transport system that will meet the transportation needs of a larger population,” the ministry said.
