The National Secretariat of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abuja was on Monday besieged by protesters who demanded nothing less than the sacking of the National Chairman of the party, Adams Oshiomhole.
The protesters under the auspices of the APC Young Stakeholders, stormed the APC National Secretariat around 11am, carrying placards with various inscriptions such as: ‘Oshiomhole Must Go’, ‘Oshiomhole go home’. ‘We are tired of loosing’, amongst others.
One of the leaders of the group who identify himself as Mathias Omikpa, said the APC young stakeholders were tired of recording reversals of their victories due to National Chairman perchant for impunity.
“It is time for Oshiomhole to go, we are tired of this downward trend. The National Chairman has brought nothing but misfortunes to our party from Zamfara to Rivers now Bayelsa. We are calling on President Muhammadu Buhari National Leader, Asiwaju Ahmed Tinubu to intervene.
Recall that the Supreme last year upturned APC victory in Zamfara State and awarded same to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship, National and State House of Assembly candidates who came second to APC candidates.
Only last week, the Supreme Court sacked the APC Governor-elect in Bayelsa, David Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo and ordered the declaration of the PDP candidate, Diri Douye who had been already sworn-in as Governor.
The two events of sacking of APC candidates in both Zamfara and Bayelsa States are sequel to pre-election matters bordering on alleged imposition of candidates against all odds with orchestrated by Oshiomhole.
