The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the election in Kogi West Senatorial District held on Saturday as conclusive.
Olayide Lawal, a Professor and INEC’s returning officer for the district, said supplementary elections would be conducted.
The date for the supplementary election would be announced soon, he said.
The supplementary elections will affect 53 Polling Units and 46,127 registered voters.
The contestants for the senatorial seat are Dino Melaye of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), and Smart Adeyemi of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC). The seat became vacant following the nullification of Melaye’s election into the Senate.
Interim results announced by the commission were as follows:
APC 80,118
PDP 59,548.
No winner was declared.
