The globally recognized GESS Leaders in Education Summit was held at Sheraton Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos from 29th – 30th October 2019. The 2-day event featured targeted conference sessions designed to engage and expose key players in the Nigerian education sector to modern skills required to be effective in their different roles.

Riding on the theme “Achieving Globalisation for Nigerian Schools: Transitioning to Global Schools in the 21st Century”, the event addressed the key training needs required by educators, as well as the various challenges faced by educators and educational institutions. Participants were engaged and nurtured with insightful presentations shared by leading educationists, coupled with training sessions on how they can acquire skills needed to advance their careers as educationists.
As the Technology Partner of this year’s edition, the CEO of WOWBii Interactive, Mrs Terae Onyeje delivered a presentation titled ‘’The Future is African”. According to her, “The need for Nigerian schools to adopt the Wowbudd, a Pan-African EdTech solution that transforms traditional classrooms into a 21st-century learning environment is crucial and inevitable.” In her submission, Hon. (Mrs.) Folasade Adefisayo, the Commission for Education, Lagos State highlighted the need for educators to embrace EdTech.

The GESS Leaders in Education Summit Nigeria was supported by the Lagos State Government Ministry of Education and key educational bodies and associations such as: The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS);Association of International School Educators of Nigeria (AISEN); World Organisation for Early Childhood Education (OMEP) amongst others.
