Reactions to the xenophobic attacks against Nigerians in South Africa took a rancorous turn on Wednesday, as the National Union of Nigerian students (NANS) clashed with other youth groups who attended a dialogue meeting with the Acting High Commissioner of South Africa to Nigeria, Bobby Moroe.
The pandemonium started when the National President of NANS, Danielson Akpan, stormed the South African High Commission with his group where they confronted other youth and students groups, who they accused of going into a dialogue meeting with the South African Envoy when there was an agreement not to do so until the attacks against Nigerians in the former Apartheid enclave are stopped.
Akpan, who accused the other groups of sabotage noted that they have compromised their positions adding that stringent measures will be taken against them for betraying Nigerians.
However, the President of the Students Union Government (SUG) University of Abuja, Suleiman Rabiu, said the meeting was necessary to find a lasting solution to the problem.
