Ahmad Ngoroje, the Taraba Coordinator, Buhari Support Organisation on Sunday advised the Federal Government to work closely with traditional rulers to tackle lingering insecurity in the country.
Ngoroje, who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Jalingo said the traditional rulers were the closet to the people in both urban and rural communities with more capacity to fish out criminal elements in their domains.
The coordinator explained that traditional rulers at their various levels know who comes into any community, saying that working with them would be a way out for the insecurity ravaging the nation.
“At the moment, traditional rulers are not being properly carried along on issues of security in their domains.
“You will notice that most times, it is when there is an outbreak of crisis in an area that traditional rulers are contacted and this approach is not helping matters,” he said.
Ngoroje also appealed to President Buhari to assign the ministerial nominee from Taraba, Mamman Sale to the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development.
According to him the move would benefit the country more because the huge agricultural potential of Taraba would be better harnessed to boost the nation’s economy and ensure food security if the man from the state was at the helm of affairs in agriculture ministry.
“Taraba is the only state in northern Nigeria that produces cocoa in a large quantity and also has a long stretch of fadama area for rice cultivation.
“The tea produced in Taraba is one of the best in the world, attracting patronage from countries like Saudi Arabia and some African countries,” he said.
Ngoroje wished the Muslim faithful a peaceful and happy Sallah celebration.
