Communities that need special attention must fight off insecurity – Ihedioha
A key secret may have been let out of the chambers of the incoming administration in Imo State to be led by Emeka Ihedioha. The governor-elect told mammoth crowds from various communities that paid Easter Homage to his Mbutu hometown in Aboh Mbaise LGA that fight against insecurity would rank very high in his reckoning.
Many communities including Mbutu Mbaise Peoples Assembly (MMPA) for the entire Mbutu clan and the smaller Mbutunweorie Stakeholders Forum (MSHF) that comprises of eight villages under their own autonomous status thronged to Arunta village, Ihedioha’s hometown.
Many groups were said to have gone with shopping lists hidden behind their glowing congratulations and goodwill messages, but Ihedioha who flew in from London to a tumultuous welcome told his people to take insecurity out of their communities for a start.
He charged communities that would need developmental projects or any social amenities to shun insecurity in their areas and urged the youths to behave well and not to indulge in crimes and criminality. He made it clear that his administration would not condone crimes and would not shield any person that is implicated in crimes.
“Those who are caught in crimes will go in. We cannot condone crimes and this is the time for those who indulge in committing crimes to repent because you will go in for any crime you commit. I have the best for our people and I know what to do for them to be happy. We will provide jobs for our people”. Many persons and groups have pointed at insecurity, as one menace the next governor must fight down to talk about investments and return of greatness of Imo State.
The warning seemed to strike through the communities who have been jubilating over the emergence of their kinsman as next governor of Imo State, something that has never happened in history.
He promised to develop Mbutu Mbaise his hometown and ensure that all autonomous communities in Mbutu Mbaise got equal share in terms of developmental projects and that attention would be given to all equal communities in Imo State.
He promised that he would do what the people of Imo State said asked for and that his administration would be people –oriented. He added, “I will not put shame or bring shame on the people of Imo state”.
He described the courtesy visit on him as a thanksgiving to God in another form, and told Mbutu Mbaise people to always be happy and thank God for his emergence as governor. If it were in the hands of men it would have failed. “We fought principalities and powers, because they prepared evil for us, therefore let us not lose focus,” he said.
