The Nigerian Gas Company (NGC) on Thursday urged its host communities to embrace peace through dialogue so as to promote peace and development in their areas.
It says it would continue to reward its host communities that promote peace and embrace dialogue in the resolution of disputes.
The Managing Director of NGC, Babatunde Bakare, made this remark on Thursday during the official inauguration and handing over of a Basic Health Centre to the Iraye Community in Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The health centre is fully equipped with state of the art modern equipment built by NGC as a reward to some of their host communities who are peaceful.
Bakare who was represented by the General Manager, Support Services, NGC, Mariam Emmanel-Ate, said NGC would continue to solicit the communities co-operation and assistance of peace and support for its business growth.
“As a responsive company, NGC remains committed to developing a robust and sustainable relationship with its over 350 host communities in the country to enhance business growth.
Bakare thanked the Ogun State government and the traditional rulers in Iraye community for creating the enabling peace for the project to succeed.
Responding, Jide Ojuko Ogun state Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftancy Affairs commend the NGC for complementing government’s effort in the provision of healthcare services.
Ojuko urged other Corporate private organisations to emulate the NGC in providing their corporate social responsibilities to their host communities.
Also, the Chairman of Sagamu Local Government Area, Olugbenga Daniel, thanked the NGC for the project and urged the community to safeguard the facilities.
He said that Ogun state government was committed to providing an affordable and qualitative healthcare services to the people.
On his part, the traditional ruler of Iraye community, Mosudi Mawelu, said the project was the secong good thing that has happened to the community.
“This is the second historic thing that has happened to our community, the first was when the Queen of England visited Iraye community,” he said.
The monarch thanked the NGC management and assured that the project would be adequately maintained.
