The former vice president of Nigeria and the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, (PDP) Atiku Abubakar, says he is a Democrat, when it comes to the outcome of the elections. Atiku make the remarks shortly after casting his votes at his Ajia ward 012, at around 10:04 am local time.
Speaking shortly after voting, Atiku said, he is very much satisfied with the entire process which seems smooth and uninterrupted.
On whether he would accept the result of the elections, Atiku said “I am a Democrat”
The secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, who also voted in his Gwadabawa ward 009 in Yola at around 10:15 am.
Boss said, he is also satisfied with the process of voting but worried that there is a need for improvement in the process and voting materials.
He said all hands have been on deck to ensure smooth voting in the country and to avoid shifting elections.
The SGF also called on politicians to accept the results of the elections and winners should be magnanimous in victory and those who loose should accept defeat in good faith.
While the military is not playing any role in the conduct of elections in the state and at polling units, most residents of Adamawa would still need reassurance to vote following myriads of security challenges including herdsmen attacks in southern Adamawa and a recent upsurge at attacks in the fringes of the Sambisa in particular, Madagali and Michika local governments.
The Nigerian army, on a confidence building patrol of Yola and other parts of Adamawa, has reassured residents of Adamawa of adequate security, as voting is ongoing in most parts of the state.
