Nigeria, Africa biggest economy ranked in 99th position out of 125 countries in the 2019 Global Talent Competitive Index (GTCI), according to a report released by INSEAD business school in partnership with Tata Communications and Adecco Group.
The report measures levels of Global Talent Competitiveness by looking at 68 variables such as ease of ease of hiring, gender earnings gap, and prevalence of training in firms.
“Among the six is the largest economy in the region: Nigeria (99th). Its most encouraging performance is related to attracting (61st) talent, which is chiefly driven by luring foreign resources and talent (it ranks 57th in External Openness),” the report stated
“All the same, the country finds itself in the bottom quartile in four of the six pillars (Enable: 95th; Grow: 103rd; Retain: 120th; Global Knowledge Skills: 97th); clearly Nigeria has plenty of scope to strengthen its talent competitiveness,” the report further stated
Now in its sixth year, this edition of the GTCI addresses the topic of entrepreneurial talent and global competitiveness and attempts to identify the ways in which large and small firms, nations, and cities can foster entrepreneurial talent in the era of digital transformation.
