The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC and the main opposition Peoples Democratic Party, PDP governorship primaries in Benue state are in stalemate over consensus.
In APC, the primary is yet to start because of permutations to produce a consensus candidate as four out of the six aspirants have withdrawn from the race.
The National Working Committee of APC cleared all the six aspirants that obtained forms for the Benue governorship ticket. These are Emmanuel Jime, Asema Achado, Titus Zam, Akange Audu, Benjamin Adanyi and Mike Iordye.
Out of these, Titus Zam, Akange Audu, Mike Iordye and Benjamin Adanyi are said to have withdrawn from the race remaining Emmanuel Jime and Asema Achado.

Jime is a former two term Member of the House of Representatives as well as Speaker, Benue State House of Assembly and the present Managing Director, Nigeria Export Processing Zones while Achado is an Architect and a business mogul with investments in banking, agriculture and tourism.
Similarly, PDP has not commenced the primary election in Benue as Governor Samuel Ortom whom stakeholders want to make a consensus candidate is still been challenged by John Tondo, former Commissioner for Lands and Survey under Gabriel Suswam administration.
Ortom who recently rejoined the PDP after he was allegedly given a quit notice in APC the platform with which he became governor in 2015 is in contest for the PDP Governorship ticket along side Felix Atume; former Commissioner in the state, David Ker; former Commissioner and former Vice Chancellor, Benue State University as well as Veritas University, Paul Orhii; former Director General, National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control(NAFDAC) and John Tondo.
All the aspirant, except Tondo have withdrawn from the race.
