The last is yet to be heard about last month’s invasion of the Senate by armed thugs who also snatched the symbol of authority – Mace.

The Divisional Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of the National Assembly,  CSP Abdul Sulu-Gambari who was redeployed at the weekend to Adamawa State by the Police,  officially handed over to his successor, Abdullahi Sambo on Monday at the National Assembly Complex, Abuja.

It was reliably gathered that Sulu-Gambari’s redeployment to Adamawa State may not be unconnected to his recent submissions at the Joint Senate and House of Representatives Ad-hoc Committee investigating the invasion.

Gambari who was the NASS DPO then, succeeded in arresting five of the six hoodlums that allegedly entered the chamber with the then suspended senator representing Delta Central Senatorial District, Ovie Omo-Agege.

A reliable source at the National Assembly revealed that the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, felt that the former National Assembly DPO went too far in revealing security information during his testimony before the adhoc committee co-chaired by Deputy Senate Leader, Senator Bala Na’Allah and Honourable Betty Apiafi.

Those who orchestrated the transfer of the former DPO Abdul, according to sources, said the arrest of the five suspects and detention of vehicles which all had the signature of an insider job and should have been a clear signal for him to play with caution and stay-off the scenario.

The source disclosed that the police boss was irked by Sulu-Gambari’s submission accusing lawmakers and security agents of internal conspiracy.

Sulu-Gambari who did the handing over on Monday to his successor, Sambo, at the lobby of the National Assembly, Abuja was on mufti (white caftan) while the new DPO was on uniform.

However, the redeployed DPO declined granting interview to reporters who witnessed the brief event.
