Nigeria tried to pull one back, but the brilliant saves from Republic of Congo goalkeeper denied Eagles the second.
In his post match analysis, Gernot Rohr, Super Eagles technical adviser, rated his players high in match most fans feel Nigeria could have done better.
“I was interesting to see the players play; we played against a very good team with a very strong squad.
“The pitch was not good enough for us to play, we did not want to take the risk of playing top players who are tired, so we featured the young players and they did very well, ”Roht said.
“We scored a wonderful goal and were close to score the second one, but Congo had their opportunity through a penalty kick that leveled the score line.
“We did not win the match but, it was a very interesting game for everybody, especially for some players that got the opportunity to play.
He noted that his final squad will be ready after the game in London against the Three Lions of England.
“We have challenges with our fullbacks and we will work on it, we have few days to rest and prepare the team. We will give other players like Victor Moses, Odion Ighalo play in London against England.
“Unfortunately, I have only seen 17 players and have to choose six more players; we have another game to play before we give our final list before the June 4th.”
