Transactions on the Nigerian bourse today (Thursday) saw the All Share Index (ASI) of the Nigerian Stock Exchange (ASI) decline by 0.40 percent.
The ASI closed at 40,914.94 points compared with 41,080.12 points recorded at the end of yesterday’s trading session. The market capitalisation ended the day at N14.82 trillion which amounted to a loss of N59.84 billion when compared with N14.88 trillion which was the worth of all listed equities yesterday.
Trading in the shares of deposits money banks dominated today’s dealings at the Exchange as equity traders exchanged 79.35 million shares of Zenith Bank; 19.91 million shares of Access Bank; 19.04 million shares of UBA; 13.39 million shares of Fidelity Bank and 9.16 million shares of CAP.
The top five gainers are Okomu, CCNN, CAP, MRS and Zenith Bank. At the close of business today, Okomu Oil appreciated by 5 percent to N85.05 per share compared with N81 per share which was its closing price yesterday. CCNN went up by 9.96 percent to close at N27.05 per share, compared with N24.6 per share yesterday.
CAP went up by 4.85 percent to close the day at N38.9 per share, as against N37.1 per share recorded the previous day. MRS appreciated by 4.94 percent to end the day at N29.75 in contrast to N28.35 per share recorded the previous day. Zenith closed at N27.95 per share which translated to an increase of 1.64 percent when compared with its closing of N27.5 per share yesterday.
Heavyweights including Seplat, Dangote Cement, Forte Oil, NASCON and GTB topped the losers’ chart. Seplat Petroleum shed N25 to close at N725 per share as against N750 per share recorded in the previous day. Dangote Cement which closed at N248 per share the previous day lost N3 to end today’s transactions at N245 per share. Forte Oil lost 85 kobo to close at N40 per share as against N40.85 per share recorded yesterday. NASCON shed 60 kobo to close the day at N20.40 per share compared with N21 per share yesterday. Guaranty Trust Bank (GTB) lost 50 kobo to end the day at N44.50 per share in contrast to N45 per share of the previous day.
