Portfolio Management Institute, Nigeria, has signed a collaboration agreement with Chartered Institute for Securities and Investment (CISI), United Kingdom that offers opportunity for human capital development, international certification and across border job opportunities
Usman Suleiman, president/chairman of Council of PMI said , at the signing ceremony in Lagos that the agreement will open the gateway to mutually rewarding and beneficial relationship between CISI and PMI, stressing that Professional collaboration if well managed and sustained engender immense mutually beneficial reward for the parties.
“I have no doubt that considering the wealth of experience of all the parties involved this collaboration will surely not only be of great value addition to our collective members but also lift us up to higher levels of our collective goal achievements,” he said.
Suleiman said it is a thing of joy for members of PMI joining the global professional community, which will avail them the opportunity of being identified with global best practice in Investment and Portfolio Management.
He noted that Professional Institutes, Colleges and universities collaborate on initiatives that individual institutions might not be able to accomplish alone, adding that collaboration results in the creation of a formal entity with its own staff, budget, and governance.
He said Colleges and universities use collaboration to grow their influence with commercial providers and in this way, benefit the development of learning ecosystems, adding that this is PMI’s focus of which it is optimistic that the arrangement will be of immense benefits to membership and other stakeholders at large.
Suleiman said the business of Banking and Finance including Investment and Portfolio Management, is of utmost trust and confidence which should not be breached in whatever form, hence, the imperative of continuously sustaining professionalism and ethical behavior.
He maintained that the Institute is putting in a lot of effort at repositioning and ensuring effective delivery of membership services and realization of utmost professional value to members.
Praneet Shivaprasad, senior international Manager, Chartered Institute for securities and Investment, , who delivered a lecture at the event, entitled: “Integrity Matters in Financial Services”, urged individuals and organisations to esteem ethical practices, adding that no institution can stay long in business without integrity and trust.
According to him, the Chartered Institute for Securities & Investment remains a leading professional body for securities, investment, wealth and financial planning professionals and was founded in 1992 by practitioners on the London Stock Exchange and formally chartered by Her Majesty the Queen in October, 2009.
He said the institute has a membership of over 45,000 spread in 104 countries and last year more than 40,000 CISI exams were taken in 80 countries.
