Jumia Food, a subsidiary of Jumia, the online shopping platform has partnered with six new popular restaurants in Port Harcourt, in an effort to deepen its penetration in the city.
These new partnerships with Genesis, Jevinik, South 66, Menage, Casablance and Go Green, bring the total number of active restaurants on the Jumia Food platform to 35.
In addition, Jumia Food says it has also partnered with top pizza, burger, health food and local food restaurants in the city, and will deliver to major areas like Trans Amadi, GRA 1, 2 & 3, Old GRA, Rumogba, and Woji.
Olamide Bada, managing director of Jumia Food, who announced the partnerships recently in Port Harcourt, said the decision was informed by customer’s relentless demand to have these restaurants signed up on Jumia Food.
“We have been getting requests from our customers in Port Harcourt to include some of their favourite restaurants on our platform, and we couldn’t turn a deaf ear to their requests.
We have built a solid business model in Lagos and we plan to consolidate our market position as Nigeria’s no. 1 food ordering platform by doing the same in Port Harcourt. We guarantee our customers first-class services they already know us for,” Bada added.
To meet up with the average delivery time of 45-minutes for same day delivery in Port Harcourt, Jumia Food says it has beefed up its delivery fleet by employing additional delivery agents, thereby creating employment opportunities for hundreds of youths in the city.
“We have ensured that we have enough agents to deliver orders to our customers by beefing up our fleet which meant hiring new hands within the city,” Bada said.
With the launch of Jumia Food in Port Harcourt, residents in the city who have extremely busy schedules now have the opportunity to find restaurants that deliver to them in four simple steps – by downloading the app, entering delivery address, choosing preferred meal and ordering their food. Jumia Food assures delivery within 45 minutes.
