The Spark by BusinessDay is monthly magazine inserted in the BusinessDay newspaper. The Spark was created to empower Nigerian youth and create opportunities for aspiring young entrepreneurs.
One of the many ways the Spark is encouraging and empowering Nigerian youth, is by providing opportunities for aspiring entrepreneurs to apply for cash grants that will take their business idea to the next level.
Funmi Tuoyo, founder of Funmi Coconuts Nigeria, an agro-business that creates products (such as flour, Fufu, Oil and Amala) from the coconut fruit, has proved that with a goal in mind, and the zeal to push harder, you can set yourself up for success.

In January 2018, The Spark gave off a cash grant of NGN100,000 to help one entrepreneur move closer to success. Several entries were received from entrepreneurs with awesome businesses and products. Funmi saw the empowerment opportunity on a friend’s Instagram, timeline and decided to apply, explaining how she would use the cash grant. After reviewing all entries, Funmi Tuoyo’s entry emerged the best and she was invited to receive her empowerment prize in Lagos.

In March 2018, Funmi travelled down from Warri, Delta state (where her business is located) to Lagos to meet with The Spark by BusinessDay team and to receive her prize.
Well done Funmi! Keep up the good work. For more information on the Spark By BusinessDay please visit www.thesparkng.com
