MainOne Cable, a provider of innovative telecom services and network solutions for business in West Africa coast has concluded plans, having entered into an agreement with Ogun state government, to provide telecom infrastructure and internet services for major cities, starting from Abeokuta on optic fibre, covering 250 kilometre across the three senatorial districts of the state.
The telecom infrastructure and network solutions intended for economic growth and business development, especially in Abeokuta, the state capital where Central Business District (CBD) project currently takes place around Oke-Ilewo, Ibara, Ita-Eko axis, has a 30-year free right of way agreement with Ogun state government.
Speaking shortly in Abeokuta on Monday after the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between MainOne team and Ogun state government at Oke-Mosan Secretariat, Babatunde Dada, the leader of the team and chief finance officer, said telecom infrastructure would be located in 12 different locations in major cities, including Abeokuta and the data centre and control room would be sited at Sagamu interchange along Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
Dada declared that MainOne would offer alternative energy sources and leverage on independent power project of Ogun state government to power it’s telecom infrastructure and internet services, just as he stated that the internet penetration in Ogun state would automatically propel the cities of the state to assume smart city statuses as gross domestic product would also increase.
Responding, Taiwo Adeoluwa, Secretary to the State Government, who led State government team, stated that the pact was undertaken as one of the legacies which the outgoing government tends to leave behind when leaving seat of power on May 29th, 2019, saying the telecom infrastructure and internet services intended for Ogun state would cover Abeokuta Central Business District.
He said that five commercial banks had already signified intention to be part of Abeokuta Central Business District and three major banks had moved to site and Shoprite as well as big business brands in the country, explaining that optic fibre connectivity would be installed to cover public installations, Government Offices, Model schools as well as investments across the length and breath of the state.
