The Senate Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions will today screen the two governorship nominees of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
Also to be screened are four nominees of the CBN Monetary Policy Committee (MPC).
Recall that last week, the Senate referred the screening of the six nominees to the Committee.
Chaired by Rafiu Ibrahim (APC, Kwara State), the panel is expected to submit its report to plenary for consideration.
The two deputy governorship nominees of the apex bank include Aishah Ahmad and Edward Adam, while the four nominees for MPC include: Adeola Adenikinju; Aliyu Sanusi; Robert Asogwa and Asheikh Maidugu.
BusinessDay learnt that today’s screening will hold at Committee Room 107, New Senate Building, National Assembly Complex, Abuja.
On Tuesday last week, the Senate reversed itself over its resolution not to confirm members of the committee ahead of the meeting of the Monetary Policy Committee (MPC) of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
It therefore mandated its Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions to immediately confirm the two CBN deputy governorship nominees and four members of the MPC to pave the way for the meeting.
