The market capitalisation of listed equities rose by N105 billion last week following the announcements of more corporate actions by the listed companies. The market capitalisation of quoted companies rose from N15.403 trillion on March 2 to N15.507 trillion last week Friday. Year to date, equities listed on the NSE have gained N1.89 trillion.
Similarly, the All Share Index of the NSE closed the week at 43,167.86 points, representing 0.68 percent week on week increase over 42,876.23 points it recorded on the last trading day of the previous week. Year to date, the ASI closed positive at 12.88 percent. While the NSE Insurance Index mirrored the market by closing at 12.88 percent last week, the NSE Banking Index, NSE Premium Index, NSE Pension Index and the NSE Industrial Index outperformed the market as they closed at 19.33 percent; 17.07 percent; 18.06 percent and 19.23 percent respectively.
When trading ended last week, a total of 3.079 billion shares worth N39.99 billion were traded in 23,086 deals as against 2.170 billion shares worth N39.087 billion done in 24,657 deals. As usual, the financial services sub sector dominated trading in value and volume as 2.0288 billion shares were trade worth n29.585 billion exchanged in 13,188 deals. It was followed by the oil and gas sub sector which recorded 386,811 shared worth N1.273 billion done in 1,573 deals.
NEWGOLD Exchange Traded Products (ETPs) were the most traded as 4 units were sole worth N22,400 in a deal as against 50,547 units that were sold the previous week valued at N4.593 million done in 12 deals.
A total of 2,823 government bonds were traded valued at N2.64 million exchanged in 21 deals last week compared with 6,574 units that were traded the period week valued at N6.33 million done in 31 deals.
