According to the latest report from Nigeria Bureau Statistics (NBS), Bauchi, Nasarawa and Kebbi states recorded the highest rise on inflation in December 2017 compared to last year.
According to the report, Bauchi recorded the highest level of inflation rate of 21.92 per cent followed by Nasarawa with 18.16 per cent; while Kebbi with inflation level of of 18.67 per cent completed the top three among the Thirty-Six states across the federation including FCT.
On a month on month (MoM) basis in November 2017, general inflation was highest in Edo with inflation rate of 1.48 percent, Yobe with 1.34 per cent and Kebbi 1.27 percent, while Kogi, Bauchi, Nasarawa, Kwara, Ebonyi and Sokoto recorded negative inflation on MoM of -0.96 per cent ,- 0.67 per cent,- 0.40 per cent,-0.37per cent, -0.30 per cent and -0.05 per cent respectively.
Also, in food inflation on a YOY basis, Kwara recorded the highest level of inflation rate of 24.46 per cent, while Nasarawa with 22.77 per cent and Yobe with 22.60 per cent completed the top three among the thirty six states across the federation including FCT, while Kogi, Bauchi and Benue recorded the slowest rise in food inflation.
However On a MOM basis, December 2017 food inflation was highest in Edo with 1.90 percent, followed by Niger with 1.76percent and Akwa Ibom with 1.76percent , while Kogi, Kwara, Ebonyi, Jigawa, Abia, Nasarawa, Sokoto, Gombe, Borno, Benue, Oyo, Kaduna, and Abuja all recorded food negative inflation in December 2017.
Finally, Kogi, Delta, and Benue recorded the slowest rise in headline Year on Year (YOY) inflation with inflation rates of 10.3 per cent, 12.61 per cent and 13.53 per cent respectively.
