Martins Okoji, the Abia state commissioner for Sports has given the Contracting firm, Monimechelle Nigeria Limited, handling the regressing of Enyimba International Stadium, Aba a marching order for the job to be completed before January, 2018 kick-off date of the new Soccer season in Nigeria.
Okoji who gave the order when he led Management of the Ministry of Sports on an on the spot inspection of work so far done in the stadium reiterated that the project was very dear to Governor Okezie Ikpeazu who he noted was desirous of speedy completion of the regressing of the pitch.
He regretted that the delay in completing the project had led Enyimba to be playing their home matches away from Aba for two years; a situation which he noted was no longer acceptable.
The commissioner however expressed satisfaction with the quality of materials already brought in for the work while assuring the Contractor of the Ministry’s readiness to cooperate to ensure quality and timely delivery of the job.
Earlier, while conducting the Commissioner and his entourage round the project site, the Chief Executive of Monimichelle, Ebi Egbe promised to do every within his power to ensure the completion of the job within before the stipulated deadline.
He commended Governor Ikpeazu for his commitment to ensure that Enyimba fans watch their darling team at their fortress without further delay.
Egbe disclosed that the geo-pitch when installed would stand Enyimba stadium out as the best playing turf in Nigeria adding that the delay in completing the project has necessitated its contract variation.
He expressed satisfaction with the understanding shown by the state Government in this regard to avoid further delay of the job.
