Babatunde Fashola, minister of Power, Works and Housing has said that rules to govern the eligible customer declaration will be out next month.
Speaking at the Lagos chamber of commerce & industry policy dialogue on the power sector in Lagos today, Fashola said the implication is that industrial customers will now be able to buy power directly from generation companies.
However, Kola Adeshina, the chairman of Egbin Power Plc warn that the implication of this declaration is that tariffs will go up for electricity customers if those with ability to pay now buy directly from GenCos.
“We call for a holistic review of where we are and where we are going, so stakeholders have to meet and agree on these things.”
