At least five of Nigeria’s electricity distribution companies have written to the Bureau of Public Enterprise (BPE) and the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) to inform them of their plans to declare force majeure on their operations in response to the recent Federal Government policy on eligible customers.
BusinessDay confirmed from two highly placed sources in the distribution companies that this is in the works.
According to the sources, the DisCos are considering a complete shutdown of their operation and requesting for their vested equity as contained in their performance agreements with the Federal Government.
